5th of August 2021 – 6.0  COVID-19 lockdown

Dear Parents, Guardians and Families,

As you are aware, the Victorian Premier Dan Andrews is implementing a 7 day snap COVID-19 lock down from 8pm tonight Thursday 5th August 2021. Our priority is to ensure the health and safety of our students, staff, families and the community. Whilst the school has yet to have any positive cases of COVID, we are in a global pandemic with Victoria currently being a highly compromised state and this remains a significant concern for the Leadership team, staff of Sunshine SDS and our community.

Our teachers will continue to provide home learning from tomorrow Friday the 6th August 2021 until Thursday the 12th of August 2021, including a morning message, English, Mathematics, science and a specialist activity via Seesaw, alternatively every students will have access to a hard copy learning at home pack which will be delivered to you tomorrow. We are confident these structures will continue to support our students to learn at home during this lockdown period.

Three categories for onsite attendance are:

  1. Students of authorised workers – if you have been previously accepted and identified in this category there is no need to provide further evidence
  2. Students deemed vulnerable – this must be approved and supported by the school
  3. Students with a disability who are experiencing difficulty learning from home

If you believe that you fit the criteria, please contact me via the school’s email address [email protected] by 12pm tomorrow Friday 6th of July. We will then contact you to discuss any further supports we can provide your child at home or, if necessary, their return to school during the lockdown period.

Students who meet the criteria to attend school will not be provided with additional learning opportunities to what is currently being provided by their teachers on Seesaw or in the hard copy home learning pack.

Please be aware that there will be a rotation of teaching and education support staff members to support on-site who may nit be familiar to your child.

Take care and stay safe.

Kind regards,

Nicole Edwardes
