COVID Update – 10th June, 2021
Dear Parents, Guardians and Families,
We were incredibly excited to hear the Victorian Government announcement that all students and staff will resume onsite, face to face education. As a result, students and school staff in all government schools across Victoria should attend their school in accordance with normal arrangements from Friday 11 June.
Whilst there will be no system wide Curriculum Day, Sunshine SDS has a School Council endorsed Student Free Day on Friday 11th June, this information has been disseminated and communicated to families from the start of the year and features on your Important Date fridge magnet and in student diaries.
At Sunshine SDS, Friday 11th June is our Report Writing Day and Monday 14th is the Queen’s Birthday Public Holiday. Therefore, we look forward to welcoming all staff and students back at school on Tuesday 15th June.
Pick up and Drop off times:
Transport service will resume on Tuesday – drop off and pick up times will remain unchaged to pre-lockdown times.
Parent/Carer – Drop off 8:50am and Pick up at 2:50pm. Please do not drop your children prior to 8:50am as staff commence supervision at this time. Any drop off oor pick up times outside of these hours please enter via reception in Ivory Court.
Consistent with advice for the broader community, school staff and secondary school students aged 12 or older (where they are able to do so), must wear a face mask at school, unless an exception applies:
* in all indoor spaces
* in all outdoor spaces when 1.5m physical distance cannot be maintained
* when travelling to and from school on public transport.
Visitors and parents must also observe this guidance.
Thank you for supporting your children and our school staff this past fortnight. We look forward to seeing our students back at school with their friends and teachers On Tuesday 15th June.
The wellbeing of all our students is our priority and our school staff are here to support you and your family. If you are concerned about your wellbeing or that of your child, please contact the school so we can talk with you about how we can best assist. A reminder that if you, your child, or a family member develops symptoms of COVID-19, you should get tested at a COVID-19 testing facility and stay home.
Each family should regularly check the list of public exposure sites in Victoria (where a person with COVID-19 has attended), and if anyone in the family has attended a site at the times listed, follow the instructions given.
If you are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccination, please check out the website for information and bookings. Like getting tested if you have symptoms, getting vaccinated goes a long way to keeping our communities safe and schools open.
Please don’t hesitate to contact the school if you have any concerns.
Take care and stay safe.
