11th  August 2021 – Extended Lockdown

Dear Parents, Guardians and Families,

As you are aware, the Victorian Premier Dan Andrews has extended the COVID-19 lock down until midnight Thursday the 19th August 2021. Our priority is to ensure the health and safety of our students, staff, families and the community. Whilst the school has yet to have any positive cases of COVID, we are in a global pandemic with Victoria currently being a compromised state, Caroline Springs being a hotspot and over 298 exposure sites, the transmission of COVID-19 remains a significant concern for the Leadership team, staff of Sunshine SDS and our community.

We would like to thank our amazing staff for their team effort last week and again this week. Our teachers will continue to provide daily home learning including a morning message, English, Mathematics, Science and a specialist activity via Seesaw, alternatively every student has access to a hard copy learning at home pack which has next weeks home learning in it. We are confident these structures will continue to support our students to learn at home during the extended lockdown period.

The three categories for attendance are:

  1. Students of authorised workers – if you have been previously accepted and identified in this category there is no need to provide further evidence
  2. Students deemed vulnerable – this must be approved and supported by the school
  3. Students with a disability who are experiencing difficulty learning from home.

If you believe that you fit the criteria, please contact me via the school’s email address [email protected] by 12pm tomorrow (Thursday 12th). We will then contact you to discuss any further supports we can provide your child at home or, if necessary, their return to school during the lockdown period.

Please be aware that there will be a rotation of teaching and education support staff members to support on-site attendance who may not be familiar to your child. Students who meet the criteria to attend school will be provided and supported to engage in the remote learning delivered on Seesaw by their teacher and the hard copy home learning pack provided by the school.

Take care and stay safe.

Kind regards,

Nicole Edwardes
