It has been a great start to the 2021 school year at Sunshine Special Developmental School. We are very excited to be spending another year with the amazing staff, students and families at this school. It was remarkable to see the students return to school after their holidays with great enthusiasm and excitement. This term, the staff are focusing on building relationships with the students in their classroom and around the school while supporting students to learn about the expectations of school. We thoroughly enjoy being in classrooms with the staff and students, where we’ve been able to support students with their engagement in learning and familiarising themselves with their new classroom spaces.
This year, we have a lot of new students in the Primary Learning Centre. We have 12 classes again this year, with 10 located at Ivory Court campus plus our base rooms at Ardeer Primary School and Sunshine Heights Primary School. We have started this year with 20 students in foundation. They are settling into school really well and are currently attending three days per week. This year we welcome a number of new staff to Primary. The new teachers are Carmen and Rebecca. We also welcome Kirsty back to our school and the Primary Learning Centre.
This year, Holly will be working primarily with the staff and students in P1 to P7 and P11. Jo will be working with staff and students in P8 to P10 and P12, she will also be working with a few of the Secondary classes. As learning leaders, we work very collaboratively and flexibly within the school community. We am thrilled to be working at this school and be part of an amazing school community. Our passion is educating students and being able to mentor, coach and support staff to provide excellent education for all students. We look forward to working with you all this year.
